In Stillness, Re-Imagining The World
Every aspect of our lives is changing at lightening speed, and while there is much to be frightened off, this is also an exciting time full of possibility to completely re-create our world. Inspiration and clarity come through us in our state of pure, quiet presence. Rather than focussing only on what we don't want, this work brings to light the opportunity for us to imagine and envision what we do want.
I paint in a style of hyper-realism that is most evident in the sharp defined reflections of my heroine on the underside surface of the water that seems abstract. Yet, I contrast that to the diaphanous ethereal luminescence of my heroine and her dress afloat. Water is symbolically feminine, and women are typically attuned to feeling the world through the heart rather than abstracting the world through the brain. Both have their place yet compassion and empathy and seeing a world of connection can only come from seeing through the heart.
